God calls us to service in I Peter 4: 10 where He says “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Helping children develop gratitude for God’s grace and the desire to show His love to others is at the heart of our schools’ mission. Here are a few ways we help Covenant Christian High School students learn to serve those around them and their community:

SERVICE WEEK

Each spring, the students at CCHS take a week off school to serve locally, in regional communities and internationally. It’s no easy task fundraising

and coordinating this week but it is worth it! Freshmen, sophomores,

juniors and seniors get the opportunity to serve as a class doing cleaning and yard work in Northwest Indiana to caring for underprivileged children in Guatemala.  Not only can our students be a blessing to others, but they are also blessed by learning more about God’s world and His people.

SERVICE HOURS

Students in grades 9-12 are required to serve 6 hours per semester in their local communities. Our communities are stronger when we work together and service hours are a great way for our students to show God’s love to those around them!  For Service Week Hours Form Click Here

FRESHMAN CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

• Freshman served at local ministries such as Baptist Children’s Home, Restoration Ministries and Camp LRCA.

• They helped move boxes, arrange clothes, clean and more!

• Students learned the benefits of serving together as a team and saw that people in our own communities have needs God has called us to fill. Plus, they had fun!

SOPHOMORE CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

• Sophomores served at Camp Tall Turf and at ministries in Grand Rapids, MI.

• At Camp Tall Turn, students split and stacked wood that is sold to help raise funds for the camp. In Grand Rapids, we helped at local urban ministries, including a food pantry and community garden.

• Students got to hear the passion and heart that ministry leaders have for helping those in need. They were able to see that raising someone up is not just about a meal, or a fresh set of clothes but about providing shelter, work and love.

JUNIOR CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

• Students served in Bear Branch, Kentucky at Big Creek Missions. Many of the citizens of Bear Branch suffer in extreme poverty.

• We were able to help with gutting and remodeling a home, installing a roof and working at Big Creek Food Pantry and Mountain View Elementary School.

• The junior class learned more about each other through daily devotionals and heard the testimony of people who lived a very different life from their own. The strong faith of those who have suffered much helped our students see the power of God in the lives of His children.

SENIOR CLASS HIGHLIGHTS

• Seniors have the opportunity to travel internationally and serve at Casa Bernabe, an orphanage in Guatemala.

• The students spent most of their time helping at the orphanage by cleaning, weeding, painting and playing with the children living at the orphanage.

• Our seniors experienced the blessing of bonding with children who are growing up in a very different way than the children in our community. They were able to bless them with God’s love and in turn received the blessing of service. They were also able to see that the truth of the gospel is spreading throughout the world.
