Here are a few quick facts about the parent-led CASC!
What does CASC stand for?
CASC stands for Cultural Awareness and Sensitivity Committee. It’s a long name, so it’s cool if you want to stick to the acronym. ;)
What does the CASC want to do?
CASC wants to support families as they positively engage social culture and use technology to glorify God, build strong relationships, and shine as lights to both believers and unbelievers.
How are we going to do that?
We will provide you with age-appropriate educational materials and resources, build community based on shared goals, and direct those in need toward local faith-based support groups and Biblical counseling services.
Why do we even need a CASC?
Technology is changing so fast it can be hard to keep up. Sometimes it’s hard to know what’s safe and what could be dangerous. Technology gives us information that helps us learn, connect and grow. But it also easily opens up a dark world that can destroy relationships, distort self-image, and lead to hurt and confusion. When we seek God’s guidance and learn from each other, we can use technology for good and resist the temptation to live in darkness.
Darkness loses its power in the light of God’s Truth.
For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them. It is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret. But everything exposed by the light becomes visible—and everything that is illuminated becomes a light.
This is why it is said:
“Wake up, sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
Ephesians 5: 8-14
